Willie Obiano, the former governor of Anambra State, has been granted bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This was made known by Abdulrasheed Bawa, the commission’s chairman, while speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the Network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa’s (NACIMA) 5th Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Abuja on Monday.
However, according to Bawa, the former governor has yet to complete his bail terms and therefore, remains in the commission’s custody.
Obiano Not Released From Detention, Transferred To Abuja – EFCC
Obiano, who was purportedly on his way to the United States of America (USA), was apprehended by the anti-graft agency at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Thursday at around 8:30 p.m.
He was then moved to the EFCC headquarters, where he was interrogated for days over suspected N42 billion mismanagement and exaggerated contract claims.
