Abba Kyari, the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), has been denied bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja. ayokinews.com reports
The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, ruled on Monday, that the application had been trumped by circumstances.
Kyari was declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on February 14, “over his involvement in a 25kg cocaine deal”. Some few hours later, the police reported his arrest and subsequent transfer to the NDLEA’s custody.
Kyari sued the federal government for violating his fundamental human rights, claiming that the drug trafficking claims against him were false.
He applied for bail at the Abuja Federal High Court in February, citing his health as a reason.
