American singer/rapper, Cardi B has won a libel suit in the United States worth $4 million against a popular celebrity gossip blogger, Tasha K, who claimed that the celebrity rapper was a “prostitute” with herpes and took drugs. ayokinews.com reports
According to the complaint filed in state of Georgia’s northern district, the 29-year-old rapper, born Belcalis Almanzar, sued YouTuber/blogger Tasha K in 2019 for spreading “malicious rumors” and “degrading and harassing” statements in 20 videos against the famous musician.
Court records from Monday and Tuesday, shows that Cardi B was awarded $2.75 million in total, including punitive damages and medical bills, as well as $1.3 million in legal fees.
The YouTuber, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, claimed the rapper had oral herpes and that her children would be born with intellectual problems, statements that garnered her millions of YouTube views.
Cardi B suffered “embarrassment, humiliation, mental agony, and emotional suffering,” the complaint stated.
The complaint added that the spread false report brought damage to Cardi B’s “reputation and character within her profession and industry, including but not limited to among her fans and with prospective business relations.”
Cardi B, a Bronx rapper, rose to popularity with smashing hit songs which included “Bodak Yellow,” “I Like It,” and “Money.”
Separately, the Grammy award winning singer is facing charges in Queens for a strip club scuffle.
