Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). ayokinews.com reports
President Muhammadu Buhari officially welcomed the lawmaker representing Taraba South Senatorial District in the upper house into the party in Abuja.
In a post on his official Twitter profile, President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Digital and New Media confirmed this.
Leaders Inspired By Personal Profit Cannot Bring About National Transformation
Recall that in July 2018, Bwacha criticized the APC, claiming that its leaders were privately sobbing over the party’s mass defection in the National Assembly.
Bwacha was elected to the Senate in 2011 on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Taraba South Senatorial District in Taraba State. In 2015, he was re-elected under the same party’s umbrella, and in 2019, he won election again.
