President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s first citizen, met with former President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday at the Presidential Aso Rock Villa in Abuja. ayokinews.com reports
Jonathan was welcomed into a closed-door meeting by the President when upon arrival (3:00 p.m) at the Presidential Villa.
The meeting is presumably related to his role as Special Envoy of the Economic Community of West African States, where he is spearheading mediation discussions even though Mali is still under military government following the August 2020 coup that deposed President Ibrahim Keita.

Mali’s military-dominated administration convened a four-day national conference on the country’s transition to civilian control on Monday, December 27.
According to Colonel Assimi Goita, Mali’s transitional president, the forum will “make an unvarnished evaluation of the situation of the nation and take the best lessons from it.”
Jonathan, a member of the West African Elders Forum, was in The Gambia three weeks ago to prevent election-related issues when Gambians voted in the country’s presidential election on December 4, 2021.
