The Oyo State House of Assembly has on Monday, July 18, impeached the Deputy Governor of the State, Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan.
The Assembly, which is dominated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the resolution on Olaniyan’s impeachment at around 11:30am.
During plenary on Monday, the lawmakers explained that the decision to impeach the deputy governor became necessary following the recommendation of the panel set up to investigate him.

The impeachment of the deputy governor was announced on Monday, after the report of the seven-man panel formed to look into the charges against him was adopted.
The panel’s report was read by the majority leader of the House, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin of Ogbomoso South.
