The Governor of New York, USA, Andrew Cuomo, has on Tuesday 10th August, 2021, announced his resignation from office after being accused of sexual misconduct. ayokinews.com reports
Cuomo made his resignation known in a noon broadcast to the people of New York while also apologizing to the eleven (11) women who accused him of sexual harassment.
“The best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing, and therefore, that’s what I’ll do,” Cuomo said.
Cuomo’s resignation will officially take effect in two (2) weeks time as recommended by the law.
The sexual harassment/abuse scandal came as a pathetic end to Cuomo’s political career, almost a year after he was praised for his brave and courageous leadership during the darkest days of deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
