In Bauchi, there is palpable violence over an alleged act of blasphemy by one Mrs Roda Jatau, who was accused of sharing a video in a WhatsApp group in which a convert allegedly ‘insulted’ the Prophet of Islam. ayokinews.com reports
Mrs Jatau, who is originally from Gombe but married in the Warji Local Government Area, works for the Bauchi State Primary Health Care.
According to reports from the region, Muslim youngsters launched an urgent search for the lady after Jummaat prayers, but were unable to locate her since she had been taken away to safety.
Christians’ properties in the vicinity were targeted, and a few structures were set on fire by the irate Muslim fanatics.
Many Christians were reportedly injured, including a pastor from the ECWA church.

However, a state leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) claimed he has alerted the Commissioner of Police and the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bala Mohammed about the event.
He also urged the state’s Christian population not to allow the situation to deteriorate, even if they must defend themselves against the assailants.
As of the time of reporting this article, the police had not to release a statement.
This comes only days after Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, was killed and set ablaze by her fellow students for alleged blasphemy in Sokoto.
