The Nigerian Federal Government have requested that all Channels linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), be taken down by YouTube.
According to NAN, Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, based his argument on IPOB’s status as a proscribed terrorist group.
Mohammed made the call on Thursday in Abuja, while hosting a delegation of Google representatives.
He named a number of them (IPOB YouTube Channels), including Biafra Digest TV, Umu Biafra TV, Biafra Digest, and Asa Biafra TV.
The minister explained that some of these YouTube Channels broadcast in in their local Igbo dialect in order to avoid being regulated.
He said, “Your platform is a platform of choice for IPOB, a proscribed terrorist group.
“We implore you not to make your platform available to them for their acts of violence and destabilization.
“We hope you will cooperate with us as well as our security agencies in this direction,” he added.
