Olubankole Wellington, a prominent Nigerian artiste better known by his stage name Banky W, is soliciting for funds to run his election ahead of the 2023 general election.
In June, Banky W won the PDP House of Representatives primary for Lagos State’s Eti-Osa federal constituency.
Banky W canvassed his followers’ support for him to win the election in 2023, while also asking for public financing on his official social media accounts.
“If Impact is truly the goal, then we must no longer be content to shout from the sidelines; we must get into the system and fix it,” he wrote.
He also emphasized the complexity and expense of Nigerian mainstream politics, further bolstering his appeal for popular support.
He pleaded with people to see his post as an invitation to go in tandem with him.
Explaining his drive for political participation in April, he said; “The Nigerian people need candidates who will earn and treasure their right to serve. And as a nation, we need innovation and reform.”
