Atiku Abubakar, a former Nigerian Vice President and has condemned the Monday night’s horrendous train attack that led to the death of at least nine people, and several others injured or missing. ayokinews.com reports
Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were allegedly kept by terrorists on the rails, forcing a train from Kaduna to Abuja to come to a halt on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the attack on Monday.
Reacting to the second attack via Twitter, Atiku called for unity among Nigerians against violence, while condemning the terror attacks in the country.
“The audacity of a second attack by terrorists on a Kaduna-Abuja bound train raises serious concerns. And we are now getting to know the extent of the loss of human lives and those missing in the Monday attack on the same route,” he said.
“The stories of survivors are heartbreaking. We must stand united in rejecting violence and divisions crippling our nation. As One People with One Future and irrevocably committed to One Country, we can defeat every enemy within and without.

Despite the lack of specifics about the second incident, Mr. Innocent Ajiji, president of the Nigeria Union of Railway Workers, verified the news to reporters, stating, “We are yet to determine the extent of the damage.”
The incident occurred just hours after the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), announced the suspension of operations on the Abuja-Kaduna railway line following the terror attack on Monday night.
