Abba Kyari, the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), was reportedly attacked at Kuje prison by enraged prisoners who wanted to lynch him. ayokinews.com reports
The incident took place on May 4 when about 190 convicts descended on him for allegedly prosecuting them while in office as head of Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and taking bribes, according to Premium Times.
Reports has that Kyari would soon be moved to the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS) due to the incident.
The incident has now prompted Kyari, who had been suspended for alleged drug trafficking, to file a new bail application with the Federal High Court on Thursday.

Kyari and three of his co-defendants asked Justice Emeka Nwite to release them on bail, claiming that their lives at the Kuje Correctional Centre were in danger.
At a resumed hearing on Thursday, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, counsel for DCP Abba Kyari and suspended ACP Sunday Ubia, informed the court that an application for bail for the first, second, fourth, and fifth defendants had been submitted and served on the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
