An oil vessel which was confiscated by the Nigerian Navy, MV Cecelia Imo, was on Thursday set ablaze.
The vessel which operated illegally on Nigerian waters was set ablaze in the middle of the sea alongside over three hundred thousand liters of illegally refined crude oil products.
The burning of the vessel was supervised by the personnel of the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder.
A joint operation of the Nigeria Navy had nabbed three suspects with the MV Cecelia Imo, a vessel carrying three hundred and fifty thousand liters of illegally refined products, suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil, AGO.
Speaking on the development, the NNS Commander, Commodore Desmond Igbo, said that this is just the beginning and that all those involved and affiliated with the rogue vessel will be brought to book, including the vessel owner, his suppliers, buyers and everyone connected.
