The Henley Passport Index, a reputable organization that ranks passports from nations worldwide, has once again ranked the Nigerian passport as the 20th worst-performing travel document in the world.
In the rating of the world’s passports, Japan came out on top since its citizens could enter 193 countries without needing a visa.
Second rank went to Singapore and South Korea, whose citizens can easily access 192 countries without a visa.
The Henley Passport Index relies on data collated from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with essential travel statistics from 199 different passports and 227 travel destinations.
Nigerian passport holders may enter just 46 countries, predominantly in Africa, without a visa or with one upon arrival, placing it in the 180th place out of 199 nations.
Also on the list of the 20 worst performing passports are Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, South Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, and Syria.
Afghanistan’s passport, on the other hand, came in last since its holders may enter only 27 countries without a visa.
Since 2006, Nigeria has had a streak of low rankings.
