The latest statistic of the Global and International Terrorism Research/Analysis branch of Jihad Analytics, has ranked Nigeria as the second most terrorized country in the world.
Jihad Analytics is an organization that focuses on gathering data on terrorist activity worldwide.
Iraq was ranked #1 in Jihad Analytics’ figures, followed by Nigeria and Syria in that order.
The research states that between January and June 2022, 337 terrorist incidents took place in Iraq, followed by 305 in Nigeria and 142 in Syria.
The data from Jihad Analytics showed that the terrorist groups ISWAP and Boko Haram were responsible for the majority of the assaults.
The research refutes the Nigerian government’s repeated assertions that terrorists have been reduced to the barest minimum.
Recall that Deborah Samuel, a student at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, was murdered, and the Sokoto State Police Command said they were searching for the culprits.
In May 2022, Deborah’s 200-level course mates accused her of blasphemy, after which she was brutally murdered.
This came after allegations that she upset her Muslim students with a blasphemous statement she made on the school’s WhatsApp group.
According to DSP Sanusi Abubakar, the command’s spokesman, the individuals the police had apprehended months prior were not the primary suspects.
