Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that if he is elected, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) won’t have a reason to go on strike.
According to Atiku, his administration will ensure that the failure of the government to end the ASUU strike never occurs again.
He spoke on Friday in Abuja during the celebration of the International Youth Day in 2022.
Atiku emphasized that the right to education is every young person’s most significant and essential right.
He said: “Therefore, I take very strong exception to the strike by ASUU. The inability of the government to resolve that crisis will never happen under a PDP government or administration that I will oversee.

“I have been investing in education for the past 30 years.”
He further promised to work closely with the universities authorities in ensuring that the issue of strike never occurs again.
“I believe the PDP provides the best platform for you to actualise your individual, collective aspirations,” he said.
Since February 14, 2022, ASUU has been on strike in protest of the federal government’s failure to abide by their 2009 agreement.
