Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, better known by his stage name Bella Shmurda, was a recent guest on the Echo Room Podcast, where he admitted to his past life of being an Internet fraudster (Yahoo Boy).
When asked by the interviewer if he ever did internet fraud aka Yahoo-Yahoo, the singer being sincere with himself, said that he never denied doing it.
Bella said he doesn’t criticize young people who partake in internet fraud, but he also understands that it’s not something to be proud of.
According to him, some of the individuals who partake in internet fraud are remorseful of their action, but only resort to the vice as they had no other means to provide for their families.
The “Cash App” hitmaker also found it difficult to talk directly about his background; instead, he spoke about how some youths engage in illegal activities in an effort to survive.
