Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has described the rumoured death and cloning of the current Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, as a very ridiculous misinformation. ayokinews.com reports
The Former Nigerian President berated the wrong use of Social media saying such misinformation was possible and easily dispensed (viral) through the help of social media.
According to him, one Balogun Owu, who happened to be an important personality had come to him to confirm if the news about President Buhari’s death and cloning was true and that a man named Jubril from Sudan was the President in Aso Rock without them knowing about it firsthand.
“Somebody came to me, a very high hub person, saying tell me about this talk of Buhari not being Buhari.
“I said ‘do you believe them?’ He said, ‘well, it is in the social media’. I said ‘how will Buhari die and we will not know that Buhari has died and they will bring us somebody from Sudan to be Buhari?’
“It’s ridiculous to the extreme. But you have it in the social media and you see people believing it,” Obasanjo expressed concern.
The former President further enjoined the Nigerian educational institutions to enlighten children on the advantages and dangers of using the social media.
“Social media is good, but it can be abused. We have to train our youths and our children about the dangers of the social media,” he stated.
