Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the new acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, has vowed to uphold Nigerians’ trust.
Ariwoola made this known after taking over for his predecessor, Justice Ibrahim Tanko.
On Sunday night, the former CJN Tanko announced his resignation, owing to bad health.
Following Tanko’s resignation, President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, swore in Ariwoola as the new acting CJN.

The new acting CJN asserted that, with the backing of his colleagues, the Nigerian people will not be let down by the court.
Ariwoola made the promise while addressing reporters at a meeting in the State House, Abuja.
“What Nigerians expect from me is to comply, preserve and abide and protect the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. And so be it,” the new CJN said.
“That is what I will do, especially with the cooperation of my brother Justices of the Supreme Court. We shall not fail Nigerians.”
