FIFA has upped the qualification incentive from €10 million to €12.2 million in order to assist teams in properly preparing for the event. In 2018, FIFA awarded the Nigerian squad €10 million as they qualified for the World Cup held in Russia.
The Super Eagles have now arrived in Ghana for the opening leg of the World Cup play-off against the Ghanaian squad.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Super Eagles Coach, Augustine Eguavoen, who will be playing Ghana for the third time in his coaching career, characterized the Black Stars as “known enemies” who are not easy to beat, especially at home.
