The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has confirmed the transfer of arrested former Anambra state Governor Willie Obiano, to Abuja. ayokinews.com reports
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Obiano had been moved to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Friday morning, according to The PUNCH.
Obiano was arrested by the EFCC at the Lagos International airport on Thursday night, hours after handing over to Chukwuma Soludo, the new Governor of Anambra state.
However, news surfaced on Friday, that Obiano had been freed by the anti-graft agency.

Reacting to the report, the EFCC debunked the claims, stating that the ex-Governor was still in custody.
“He’s still with the commission. He was even transferred from Lagos to Abuja this morning,” Uwujaren said.
Uwujaren, on the other hand, did not clarify if the ex-Governor’s wife, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, was also arrested.
Obiano was hauled up by operatives of the EFCC at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
