Following series of failed negotiations with the Nigerian Federal Government, a “complete and comprehensive” strike has been announced by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). ayokinews.com reports
Speaking during a press conference on Monday, ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, stated that the academic union has finally resolved to embark on a nationwide strike following failed negotiations with the federal government.
Members of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) have been meeting at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) since Saturday, a gathering which was dubbed “NEC for NEC.”
Prior to the announcement, ASUU has further informed and motivated lecturers and students all around the country about the union’s strike action.
