RollingStone made this known in their newly released list of the best songs of 2021, which had WizKid’s ‘Essence’ ft Tems peaking at the No 1 spot. The list was released on Monday, 6th of December, 2021.
RollingStone apart; Wizkid’s Essence had earlier hit various milestones as it broke into the Top-10 spot on the Billboard 100, making it the highest ranking African song to make it to the chart.
Essence also scored a notable record of 60 million streams on Apple Music, while gaining an entry to the US Apple Music Top-10, making it the first African song to achievement such feat, amongst many other achievements.
