A Nigerian Federal High Court seated in Abuja, has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to bring present the detained aides of popular Pan Yoruba Activist/Agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho. ayokinews.com reports
The Court application of the twelve (12) detainees was granted by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, who further ordered that the Department of State Services (DSS) must present to the court the arrested detained aides of the Yoruba Nation activist on the 29th of July, 2021, while also noting that the agency should give credible reasons why the detainees shouldn’t be granted bail.
The court ruling was made known after Counsel to the 12 detainees, Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, prayed to the court for an order “mandating and compelling the respondents (DSS) to produce the applicants” so as to enable the court inquire into the circumstances constituting grounds of their arrest and detention since 1st July, 2021, and where it seems fit grant applicants bail.”
Councel to the detainees also “prayed to the court for an order mandating and compelling the respondents (DSS) to produce the applicants before the court and show cause as to why the applicants should not be granted bail in accordance with the provision of section 32 of Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and other extant laws in Nigeria.”
It would be recalled that twelve (12) aides of Sunday Igboho were arrested and detained by men of the DSS following an early morning raid on the activist’s Soka residence in Ibadan, Oyo state.
