Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially announced Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, as his running mate ahead of the 2023 general election.
The announcement of Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed was a made known in Abuja, on Friday.
The 46-year-old politician/academician is the founder of Baba-Ahmed University in Kano State and Baze University in Abuja.
Speaking at the occasion, Obi asserted that Baba-Ahmed was uniquely prepared to use his experience in the business sector and his academic accomplishments to help free Nigeria from the archaic politics of ethnicity.

Obi noted that the party will base its platform on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the coming days.
Recall that Doyin Okupe, the director general of the Peter Obi Campaign Organization, had resigned from his position as placeholder vice-presidential candidate and sent a letter, notifying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Labour Party had earlier submitted Doyin Okupe’s name to INEC, as the placeholder vice-presidential candidate in order to bye time and beat the deadline set by the electoral umpire.
