Several supporters / members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have switched allegiance to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), after being led by the state’s former Governor Abdul Abubakar Yari.
They were welcomed by Alhaji Musa Zubairu, the chairman of the gubernatorial campaign council’s contract and mobilization subcommittee, along with Alh. Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, the state APC chairman.
Yari praised the decampees for their insightful forethought and gave them the assurance of carrying everyone along.
The defectors met at the residence of the Zamfara State Coordinator for the Actualization of Dauda Lawal Aspiration, 2023, where they abandoned their respective party(ies).
Other members present include Hajiya Umulkhairi Aminu, the foundation’s treasurer, and the secretary, Mal. Aminu Saminu.
Decampees from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, are: Alhaji. Ibrahim, son of Allah Shinkafi; the Zamfara North senatorial candidate of the party, House of Representatives candidate of the party for Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas, Hon. Suleiman Garba Zurmi and the state NNPP treasurer, Suleiman Idris Galadi.
The other NNPP leaders that decamped to the ruling APC are the Local Government party chairman for Zurmi and his counterpart of Kaura Namoda LGA.
Both Alh. Aminu Adamu Kanoma of the PDP and Alh. Ibrahim of the NNPP stated in their individual speeches that they decided to switch allegiances to the APC because they were impressed with the kindness and capable leadership of the state’s APC gubernatorial campaign council chairman, Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara).
Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, Director-General of the APC gubernatorial campaign council, Sen. Sahabi Ya’u Kaura, Senator for Zamfara North, Hon. Lawal M. Liman Gabdon Kaura, and Alhaji Sa’ad Muhammad Faruk, the permanent secretary office of the former Governor, were among the other APC stakeholders present during the new members’ formal welcome.
